Featured in Tendrel, an exhibition at the Tibet House, NYC in 2015, this project was inspired by a series of Indian paintings, Kangra, c. 18th century depicting the incarnation and dissolution of the goddess Durga after she successfully vanquishes an impossible foe. Each piece is a process of stepping into the materiality of form and dissolving back into light. Using the tension between the luminosity of saffron, and the dense materiality of handmade oak gall ink, a shifting central breathing space rises and falls- evoking the green earth between and the dissolution into no-mind.
10% of the proceeds will go to Dongyu Gatsal Ling Initiatives a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the education standards and living conditions of Tibetan Buddhist female monastic communities
